how to measure

The measurements you need to provide will depend on which type of blind you require and how you would like the blind to be fitted, where applicable (inside or outside the recess). We advise that you read the measuring instructions carefully before ordering as made to measure products cannot be returned/exchanged.

Please use a metal tape measure (not fabric) and when possible please measure in millimetres as this is the most accurate form of measurement. Look out for any obstructions such as window handles, tiles, dado rails etc and take their position into account if necessary.

INSIDE THE RECESS:

Measure the width and drop in three places and provide the smallest measurements for each. We will then deduct the necessary allowances for the blind to fit inside the window recess.

OUTSIDE THE RECESS:

Measure the area that you would like the blind to cover and the blind will be made to these measurements.

MEASURING FOR  ROOF BLINDS

Every VELUX ®, Fakro, Dakstra and Rooflite roof window carries a data plate that details the code of the window.

Simply measure the visible glass area of each window or door. Only measure up to the edge of the rubber bead, don't include it in your measurement.

Measure the top, the middle and the bottom of the glass to the nearest mm and note down the shortest measurement. Then simply repeat this step for the drop, measuring the left, the right and the centre. Again, take a note of the shortest measurement.

Next, measure the depth of the window from glass to beading. To do this, simply place a credit card over the corner of the frame and use a metal ruler to take the measurement. This will usually be between 18 and 24mm.
